Story ideas

Honesty: the wallet

A kid finds a wallet full of money in the park and can't decide whether to keep it or find the owner.

Respect: the new kid

A new student talks differently and everyone laughs, until someone decides to sit with him.

Responsibility: the class pet

A girl has to look after the class hamster over the weekend and almost forgets.

Empathy: the game

The team's best player mocks whoever misses a goal, until he misses the deciding penalty.

Sample script: The lost wallet (honesty)

  1. 1A kid walks through the park and sees a wallet on the ground.
  2. 2He opens it: lots of money and an ID card. He thinks of everything he could buy.
  3. 3He imagines (thought bubble) a new bike and tons of candy.
  4. 4He sees an elderly lady anxiously looking for something near a bench.
  5. 5He walks over and returns the wallet. The lady smiles with relief.
  6. 6The next day the lady comes to his school to thank him in front of everyone.

Tips

  • Don't name the value in the comic: let it show through what the character does.
  • The character's doubt is the heart of the story; give it its own panel.
  • A positive ending works, but so does one where the character learns from a mistake.

Frequently asked questions

It is a short comic in which a character faces a situation that calls for honesty, respect, responsibility or another value, and the ending shows the consequences of their choice.

The most common are honesty, respect, responsibility, empathy, solidarity, tolerance, friendship and perseverance.

Six panels are enough: two to set up the situation, two for the doubt or problem and two for the decision and its consequence.
