Free comic maker: create comics online

A free comic creator with no sign-up: upload your drawings or photos, choose how many panels you want and add speech bubbles, sound effects and action lines. Everything happens in your browser: your images are never uploaded to a server.

Comic strip maker, comic book creator and comic generator

This comic maker is a free website for making comics without installing any software: open the editor, pick a panel layout and start building your comic. Use a horizontal layout of 3 or 4 panels as a comic strip maker, or add as many pages as you need to make your own comic book and download it as a PDF.

It also works as a comic generator: a random panel generator (manga style too), a speech bubble maker with 16 shapes, a sound effect generator and an action line and screentone generator, so your comic looks like the real thing.

It works as a comic maker app on your phone or tablet and as comic software on your PC, with nothing to download; you can also find it in the Histo app for Android. Your project is saved in the browser so you can pick it up another day.

You don't need to know how to draw to make a comic: use photos, cut-outs, characters with a transparent background or stick figures, and let the panels, bubbles and sound effects tell the story. If you need a story, below you will find comic ideas by topic and printable panel templates.

How to create a comic online in 4 steps

  1. Pick your panels. Choose the page size and a layout of 1 to 12 panels. You can move, split or resize every panel.
  2. Upload your images. Drop your drawings, scanned photos or screenshots into a panel: they are cropped inside and you can move or zoom them.
  3. Write the dialogue. Add speech, thought or shout bubbles, narration captions and sound effects. Move the bubble tail with the orange dot.
  4. Download or publish. Download each page as PNG or the whole comic as PDF, or publish it on historietas.app so others can read it.

Everything you need for your comic

Custom panels

29 layouts from 1 to 12 panels, with adjustable gutter, margin, border width and rounded corners.

Your own images

Drawings, photos or characters with a transparent background (PNG). They are cropped to the panel automatically.

Speech bubbles

Speech, thought, shout, whisper, square balloon and narration caption, with a tail pointing at the speaker.

Sound effects

More than 40 ready-made sound effects (BOOM!, POW!, CRASH!) with comic outline, shadow and colors, or type your own.

Comic lines

Impact, focus and speed lines for movement, plus pressure-sensitive brushes (pencil, inker, watercolor, screentones and more), arrows and shapes.

PDF and PNG

Several pages per project, download as Letter or A4 PDF for printing, or PNG for social media.

Your images stay on your computer

The editor runs entirely in your browser: you don't need an account and nothing you upload travels to a server. Your project is saved only in this browser so you can come back to it, and you can download it as a .histo file to open it on another computer. Only if you decide to publish your comic on historietas.app are the finished pages uploaded.
